ORA – ONLINE CONSULTATION
Remote Psychopedagogy
Rediscovering the joy of learning can be a goal to work towards for your child, supported by a psychopedagogue.
But not only that! So when should you book an appointment with a psychopedagogue?
- Your child has learning difficulties, they may have a specific learning disorder: the psychopedagogue will give them the tools to understand how they function, how they learn.
For example, if your teenager has ADHD, the professional will explain how to be more attentive and focused. Methods for organising and planning ahead will be suggested. They will help set up an effective routine. If dyslexia has been diagnosed, tools such as mind maps for memorisation, voice-typing software, and methods to make reading easier will be recommended.
- The psychopedagogue also helps children recognise and regulate their emotions, whether at school or outside it.
This may involve fear of making mistakes, managing stress, performance-related anxiety. Issues around a lack of confidence and self-esteem, conflicts with peers, bullying, school dropout or even school phobia (also called school-related anxiety disorder) can also be addressed.
- The psychopedagogue can also guide and support parents who are sometimes overwhelmed, at their wits’ end.
The professional can help them understand how their child works and experience parenting with more ease. They liaise with the school when needed, and can take part in educational team meetings or ESS meetings if there is an MDPH file. Not forgetting that they will also support you in managing homework time to make it a calmer moment.
