Restore family balance with parental guidance
Family balance is often disrupted by children’s inappropriate behaviour. Without understanding the reason, parents withdraw into themselves and children turn to violence or disobedience to communicate. These difficulties can lead to crises or academic failure. Parental guidance is then a solution to support parents and restore harmonious family relationships. Guided by a practitioner, it helps to better understand and manage the relationships between parents and children.
What is parental guidance?
Parental guidance is characterised by work with parents. A genuine family and behavioural therapy, it aims to correct relational dysfunctions between parents and children. The specific actions taken to address this bring visible results quickly, especially in very young children. Behaviours perceived as harmful are identified and corrected in favour of family wellbeing. For school-age children, an improvement in intellectual abilities and academic success is very often observed. The relational dimension is optimised, creating a setting conducive to balanced family development.
The family support offered on our platform is based on a targeted analysis of the habits of children and teenagers. The practitioner’s care meets the expectations of comprehensive progress. It adapts to the parents and to the child’s particularities to provide help tailored to the needs of the whole family.
Parental guidance falls within the framework of supportive psychotherapy, unlike analytical psychotherapy, which aims to uncover unconscious mechanisms. Indeed, it aims to help parents by working on current behaviours and relationships within the family, whereas analytical psychotherapies focus on interpreting unconscious motivations based on past events.
Why undertake parental guidance?
Parental guidance provides practical solutions to improve relationships between adults and children. It allows for a much healthier living environment and the adoption of the principles of positive parenting. Parents acquire concrete communication tools as well as parenting skills to better educate and manage their children’s inappropriate reactions. Generally speaking, the practitioner covers everything needed to develop and enforce parental authority. It also focuses on negative consequences such as academic learning difficulties.
This support creates a new relational dynamic between parents and children. By clarifying the situation, tensions and anxieties ease and contribute to an atmosphere conducive to conflict resolution. Parents learn to notice their harmful, lax or arbitrary attitudes. Parental guidance helps them become aware of their part in the child’s difficulties. They then adopt new habits and abandon prejudices or poor patterns of behaviour. Parents also become aware of their own aggression or fears that may lead to intense reactions in children: school phobia, violence, anger, disobedience…
The individual parental guidance sessions available on our platform aim to help adults understand their parental responsibility in the child’s behaviour. The parental support we offer helps uncover the reasons for these relational difficulties and put in place the best strategies for the child’s healthy development. As a result, the whole family once again benefits from a stable and caring relationship.
