Once diagnosed, a child with a DYS disorder<\/strong> can benefit from specific care, whether for rehabilitation or psychological support. Here’s an overview of the various structures available in France to support them<\/strong> and help them build independence and confidence. This is separate from professionals such as speech therapists<\/a>, psychologists, or psychomotor therapists, available in private practices or hospital services.<\/p>\n

Learning disorder reference centres (Centres de r\u00e9f\u00e9rence)<\/h2>\n

Since 2004, there has been a reference centre<\/strong> for learning disorders in every French region<\/strong>, as well as in R\u00e9union. This multidisciplinary consultation unit is generally attached to a university hospital team. It brings together professionals from different fields<\/strong> to provide an accurate diagnosis and tailored care, both at home and at school. It also oversees follow-up and coordination of care and takes part in training professionals.<\/p>\n

DYS health networks (R\u00e9seaux de sant\u00e9 DYS)<\/h2>\n

Grouped under a federation (FNRS TNA – F\u00e9d\u00e9ration Nationale des R\u00e9seaux de Sant\u00e9 des Troubles du Neuro-d\u00e9veloppement et des Apprentissages de l’enfant, the French National Federation of Health Networks for Neurodevelopmental and Learning Disorders in Children), these health networks were created to coordinate care<\/strong> between the various professionals involved, to support children with DYS disorders. There are around ten of them across France<\/strong> (Marseille, Dijon, Saint-Brieuc, Saint-\u00c9tienne, Lyon, Le Havre, Loos…).<\/p>\n

Medical-Psycho-Pedagogical Centres (CMPP)<\/h2>\n

Grouped under a federation, there are 309 Centres M\u00e9dico-Psycho-P\u00e9dagogiques (CMPP)<\/strong> across France. Aimed at children and teenagers aged 0 to 20<\/strong> with language or behavioural disorders, this space for listening, prevention, and care<\/strong> lets them meet various professionals (child psychiatrists, psychologists<\/a>, speech therapists, educators, etc.) under the responsibility of a doctor.<\/p>\n

Medical-Psychological Centres (CMP)<\/h2>\n

Centres M\u00e9dico-Psychologiques (CMP)<\/strong> are attached to a hospital: these “catchment area” services<\/strong> (assigned according to where you live) provide access to free multidisciplinary consultations<\/strong> (funded by French social security) for children, teenagers, and adults. They bring together healthcare staff<\/strong> (psychiatrist, psychologist, nurse, speech therapist…) and<\/strong> social work professionals<\/strong> (educator, social worker…).<\/p>\n

Home-based Specialised Education and Care Services (SESSAD)<\/h2>\n

Operating in the various settings where young people aged 0 to 20<\/strong> live their lives, Services d’\u00c9ducation Sp\u00e9cialis\u00e9e et de Soins A Domicile (SESSAD)<\/strong> are so-called “mobile” services<\/strong> that can support your child at home, but also at school or during sports activities. By providing specialised care and rehabilitation across various areas (physiotherapy, occupational therapy<\/a>…), this multi-skilled team aims for both individual and collective integration<\/strong> of children with DYS disorders. Note that these interventions are generally organised around a PPS (Personalised Schooling Plan)<\/a>.<\/p>\n
