Note that around thirty minutes within that time is also devoted to Civic Education.<\/p>\n<h3><strong>History-geography in detail<\/strong><\/h3>\n<p>In 5e, the history curriculum covers a broad period, from the great discoveries to the French monarchy:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><strong>Christianity and Islam<\/strong> (Byzantium, Carolingian Europe, the birth of Islam)<\/li>\n<li><strong>Society, the Church and political power in the feudal West, from the 11th to the 15th century<\/strong>: the seigniorial order, the emergence of urban society, the affirmation of the monarchic state (Capetians and Valois)<\/li>\n<li><strong>The transformations of Europe and its opening onto the world in the 16th and 17th centuries<\/strong>: Charles V, Francis I, Henri IV and Louis XIV.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>The <strong>geography<\/strong> curriculum, for its part, focuses on the world&#8217;s major regions, while introducing some economic concepts: beyond studying climate and terrain, students learn about the organisation of the world and its resources (economic, human&#8230;).
