Just like science & technology<\/a>, French takes up 4h30 of the timetable<\/strong> of a 4e student. Note that modern language<\/a> lessons take 5h30, mathematics<\/a> 3h30 and history-geography<\/a> 3h. In the 4e class, the French teacher will build on the knowledge acquired in cycle 3<\/a> and use it to deepen the concepts covered in 5e.<\/p>\n Since starting 6e, French has been organised around 4 key areas<\/strong>, with progressive and continuous expectations:<\/p>\n The general objectives<\/strong> in French at the end of the 4e class aim to prepare students for the 3e curriculum. From this point on, students must master the different forms of discourse, be able to formulate personal judgements, have the cultural knowledge needed to build their identity, enrich their imagination and begin to understand symbolic forms.<\/p>\n In written expression, a 4e student must be able to write a correct and coherent text of around forty lines<\/strong>, develop discourse skills<\/strong> and deepen the study of complex narratives<\/strong>.
