In this subject, one of the priorities of <a href=\"https:\/\/ora-visio.com\/quel-est-le-programme-scolaire-du-cycle-3\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">cycle 3<\/a> is writing texts&#8230;<\/p>\n<h2>The CM2 curriculum<\/h2>\n<p>French in the CM2 class is organised around <strong>4 key areas<\/strong>:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><strong>Spoken language:<\/strong> listening, asking questions, expressing a point of view, speaking in front of others, reciting&#8230;<\/li>\n<li><strong>Reading and understanding written text:<\/strong> improving reading speed and silent-reading efficiency, understanding a variety of texts by identifying the main elements (subject, characters, event&#8230;) and the elements contributing to overall coherence (linking words, punctuation, pronouns&#8230;)&#8230;<\/li>\n<li><strong>Writing:<\/strong> narrating real events, describing them, explaining them, inventing stories, summarising them, writing a poem and following composition guidelines&#8230;<\/li>\n<li><strong>Language study:<\/strong> expanding and structuring vocabulary, mastering simple sentences and starting to tackle complex sentences (active and passive voice, word types and functions&#8230;), working on spelling through dictation, copying and writing (grammatical and lexical spelling)&#8230;<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h2>End-of-year expectations for CM2 in French<\/h2>\n<p>By the end of their last year of elementary school, a CM2 student must, <strong>orally in French<\/strong>, sustain extended attention (15 minutes) to be able to summarise the key points, speak with an audience in mind, take part in exchanges in any situation and self-assess in order to improve.<\/p>\n<p><strong>In reading and understanding written text<\/strong>, the student must read fluently at a rate of at least 120 words per minute, understand a literary text, documents and images and engage with them. <strong>In writing<\/strong>, they must copy about fifteen lines neatly and legibly, use writing as a tool for thinking and learning, produce a variety of written work (skits, poems&#8230;), develop, structure and punctuate their text&#8230;<\/p>\n<p><strong>In terms of language study<\/strong>, a CM2 student must master the relationship between spoken and written language, identify the components of a simple sentence (direct object, indirect object, adverbial&#8230;), distinguish word classes, master grammatical agreement, use a dictionary easily and expand their vocabulary.<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone wp-image-120780
