During this final class of <a href=\"https:\/\/ora-visio.com\/quel-est-le-programme-scolaire-a-lecole-elementaire-cycle-2\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">cycle 2<\/a>, they will acquire new automatic skills, strengthen their mental arithmetic and develop <strong>their enjoyment of inquiry and reasoning<\/strong>. They will build on this knowledge during <a href=\"https:\/\/ora-visio.com\/quel-est-le-programme-scolaire-du-cycle-3\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">cycle 3<\/a>, dedicated to deepening their learning.<\/p>\n<h2>The CE2 curriculum<\/h2>\n<p>Mathematics lessons in CE2 are built around <strong>4 key areas<\/strong>:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><strong>Numbers and calculations<\/strong>: studying natural whole numbers (position, comparison, arithmetic relationships), decimal numbers and fractions, doing calculations (mental, written or with a calculator), solving everyday problems&#8230;<\/li>\n<li><strong>Geometry<\/strong>: using drawing and measuring instruments (set square, compass, tracing paper, ruler&#8230;), learning geometric relationships and properties (alignment, parallelism&#8230;), working with flat shapes and common solids and solving related problems&#8230;<\/li>\n<li><strong>Quantities and measurements<\/strong>: reinforcing the concepts of length, mass and volume, comparing areas and angles, telling time, duration and currency through concrete problems&#8230;<\/li>\n<li><strong>Organising and managing data<\/strong>: learning to sort data, classify it, read it, produce tables and graphs for analysis, work with concepts of percentage, scale, conversion, enlarging and reducing shapes&#8230;<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h2>End-of-year expectations for CE2 in Mathematics<\/h2>\n<p>In mathematics, a student at the end of cycle 2, in CE2, must understand and use <strong>numbers<\/strong> up to 10,000, be able to name, read, write and represent them, perform calculations and solve problems.<\/p>\n<p><strong>In terms of quantities and measurements<\/strong>, they must be able to compare, estimate and measure lengths, masses, capacities and durations, use appropriate vocabulary and solve related problems. <strong>In geometry<\/strong>, they must recognise common shapes and solids, name, describe and reproduce them.
