Following the <strong>10 weekly hours of French<\/strong> (the main subject, along with the 5h of <a href=\"https:\/\/ora-visio.com\/les-mathematiques-en-classe-de-ce1\/\">mathematics<\/a>), the student must continue building on these fundamental skills to move into <a href=\"https:\/\/ora-visio.com\/quel-est-le-programme-scolaire-du-cycle-3\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">cycle 3<\/a>, which focuses on deepening this knowledge&#8230;<\/p>\n<h2>The CE1 curriculum<\/h2>\n<p>In CE1, French lessons are organised around 4 key areas:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><strong>Spoken language:<\/strong> respecting sentence structure, expressing relationships of causality and circumstance, using conjugation correctly, diversifying vocabulary, reciting texts, speaking for longer and in a structured way&#8230;<\/li>\n<li><strong>Reading and understanding written text<\/strong>: mastering fluent reading, decoding and writing known words legibly and independently, understanding reference texts and poetry&#8230;<\/li>\n<li><strong>Writing:<\/strong> organising ideas, choosing vocabulary to link sentences and write a short text&#8230;<\/li>\n<li><strong>Language study:<\/strong> expanding vocabulary, identifying the elements of a sentence, conjugating the most frequent verbs, as well as \u00eatre and avoir in the present, future, imperfect and compound past tenses, paying attention to spelling to better control it&#8230;<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h2>End-of-year expectations for CE1 in French<\/h2>\n<p><strong>In spoken language<\/strong>, by the end of the CE1 year, the student must listen to and understand spoken messages or texts read aloud, take part in exchanges, and self-correct the language they produce. <strong>In reading<\/strong>, they must better identify words, understand a text and justify their interpretation or answers, and read from a variety of media (illustrations, diagrams, tables&#8230;), aloud or silently.<\/p>\n<p><strong>In writing<\/strong>, they must copy, identify the characteristics of texts (narrative, informative, argumentative, poetic&#8230;), and improve their written output. <strong>In language study<\/strong>, they must move easily from spoken to written language, categorise words, begin learning lexical spelling, find their way around a simple sentence and
